Alright, so here I am, sitting with a cup of coffee that’s gone lukewarm (ugh, I hate that), trying to wrap my head around this new Mario movie thing. So, will Japan call it Super Mario Bros 4? Or is this a fresh start? Who knows.
Anyway, NBC Universal just threw some info our way—I mean, not that I’m constantly glued to their announcements, but they caught my attention this time. They’ve got this whole lineup for their Peacock streaming thing, and bam, out pops “Super Mario World.” Seriously, just slipped it in there, as if it wasn’t a big deal.
This came from one of those “upfronts” they do. Honestly, I’ve always wondered why they’re called that. Maybe because they hit you with all this info upfront? No clue. So, Illumination, which is like Nintendo’s animation buddy, is in on this. Got their hands full with this Mario world thing.
And get this, alongside Super Mario World, they tossed out names like Megan 2.0 and Shrek. Yeah, the ogre’s back. Oh, and some stuff like Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale—I’m imagining tea parties with explosions. Probably wrong.
Mark your calendars for April 3, because that’s when Super Mario World drops. They’re aiming for the 2025-26 crowd. Feels far, but time’s a blur with all these sequel chains.
