I’m honestly amazed by those ancient guys, trying their best with what they had. That aurochs? Yeah, not exactly a masterpiece. Most of the cave doodles we think of, like the ones around Montignac-Lascaux? They’re from the Magdalenian folks – modern humans, mind you, from like 20,000 to 10,000 years ago. Not saying Neanderthals weren’t scribbling in caves too, before they vanished about 40,000 years back. Art from them? Mostly in Spain, and it’s not exactly National Geographic stuff – more like handprints, dots, ladders. Not gonna lie, their stuff’s kinda patchy now, but that’s just age and all.
So yeah, Neanderthal art, kind of meh.
And honestly, I’m just spitting facts here off the top of my head. I mean, except for checking those tricky spellings – Magdalenian and Montignac-Lascaux, am I right? Fact checkers, here’s your cue. Insert dramatic pointing gesture.
Imagine a James critiquing cave art, except it’s not some hairy-browed Neanderthal wearing a beret. Think Hot Tub Time Machine, but actually funny—which, let’s face it, isn’t saying much.
Switching gears, Jon’s got his hot-off-the-press Switch 2. Delivered straight from corporate – thanks, bestbuy.com, LLC. He’s diving deep into Mario Kart World, and let me tell you, the red shell destruction is real. Jon’s sitting there, couch-bound, getting wrecked by shell after shell. There’s something oddly soothing about it.
Also, Splatoon single player dropped news. Exciting, or confusing? Maybe both. Honestly, who keeps up with it all?
Mental health break? More like a quick pause before diving back in. Guillaume’s raving about F-Zero GX on Switch 2’s NSO Expansion Pack. Not my vibe, too much chaos for my taste. It’s Guillaume’s thing, though. Blood, mayhem, you name it. He’s also all over Valfaris – guns, enemies, carnage. Typical.
Over in Greg’s realm, he checked out the latest Splatoon 3 patch for the Switch 2. He’s talking HDR pop and that super-stable framerate. Nintendo, take notes. Free marketing right here.
And then there’s me, your humble scribbler, dabbling in the Switch 2 version of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. I’ve tangled with time thieves before – kids, bosses, auditors – but a kid thief? New territory.
ANYWAY. I’m just scratching the surface of the game, stuck in the tutorial. More insights next week. Unless, you know… life gets in the way.
Got any cave art submissions? Let’s see ‘em.
