Okay, so here’s the thing. Electronic Arts, yeah, they’re finally pulling the plug on Anthem. Not like I’m surprised or anything. I mean, come January 12th, 2026, poof, gone. You can’t even buy that in-game currency anymore. But if you’ve got some leftover coins jingling in the game, well, congrats? Go wild with them while you still can or something.
Oh, and they posted a blog about it. Classic. “Huge thanks for sticking around,” they say. Did you feel the warmth there? Nah, me neither.
Now, EA’s also saying there won’t be any layoffs because of this closure. But I dunno, seems kinda murky. Like, sure, no layoffs… yet? What’s the story going to be a few months down the line?
Anyway, Anthem was like this big gamble by BioWare and EA. Launched in 2019, if memory serves me right. Didn’t really get the crowd hyped as they hoped, I guess. Turns out, the whole development was a bit of a mess. Not that I’m throwing shade—okay, maybe a little.
So, fast forward a bit, and BioWare was all like, “Hey, we’re gonna make Anthem better, promise!” They even started working on this revamp called Anthem Next. Spoiler alert: never happened. They just canned it. Oh well. Life goes on, right?
