Oh man, so here’s the thing — Yuji Horii, one of the brains behind Chrono Trigger, has started dropping hints about maybe, just maybe, doing a remake. Why? Well, apparently a bunch of fans have been clamoring for it — can’t blame them, right? But Horii spilled the beans at this convention in Naples, or maybe he didn’t. Who knows? Lost in translation kinda vibes. Anyway, Chrono Trigger hitting its 30th anniversary in 2025 might be the nudge they need. Time flies, doesn’t it?
Back in the day, Chrono Trigger, this epic SNES thing, was crafted by what’s called the “Dream Team.” It’s a pretty big deal. You had Horii, this Final Fantasy mastermind, and Akira Toriyama, who drew stuff for Dragon Ball. The game was all about time travel. Seriously, who doesn’t love a good time-traveling shindig? Crono, Marle, and Lucca — just regular folks trying to, you know, stop the world from ending. Simple stuff.
The game’s battle system? Chef’s kiss. Turn-based, which is basically retro gold. And let me tell you about the music — you’ve got Yasunori Mitsuda, Noriko Matsueda, and the famous Nobuo Uematsu crafting these unforgettable tunes. Those songs — they stick with you like gum on a shoe. In a good way, obviously.
So, rumors had been flying around, like bees at a picnic, about this remake. But then there was some mix-up over at that Spanish site, GameReactor — classic. I mean, it’s not an official thing yet, but Horii’s considering it. Maybe. Square Enix, the big guys, haven’t exactly confirmed anything, but they’d be silly not to listen to the fans, right?
As it stands, Horii’s juggling a bunch of stuff like Dragon Quest revamps and the twelfth installment, Flames of Fate. It’s a busy time. But fans keep hoping for that remake, and frankly, I’m with them. Could be soon, could be never. It’s like waiting for rain in a drought. Maybe 2025 will surprise us all. Or maybe not. Who’s to say?
