Man, so Intel’s stirring the pot again. I caught this blurb (or maybe it was a tweet — my brain’s all foggy) about their Arc “Battlemage” GPUs. Yeah, apparently, they’re cooking up some fresh stuff for the whole PRO and AI gang at Computex. What’s that old saying? Something about not counting your chickens? Anyway, Computex is just around the corner, so it won’t be long now.
Now, Intel, they’re doing their teasing game again. I saw something somewhere (honestly, couldn’t tell you where — probably on X or whatever). They gave a little wink-wink nudge-nudge about their new Arc Pro series with this Battlemage graphics jazz. Apparently, these things are aimed at workstations. You know, the big dogs in AI and content creation. But Intel’s being all secretive, like holding their cards close to their chest or something.
Oh, and they dropped this nugget, which got me thinking — they’re ramping up memory on these things. These Arc Battlemage whatevers could be packing 24 GB VRAM. Imagine trying to fit that in your pocket. Not that you would, but just saying. They’re aiming to double the VRAM of their B580 and B570 line-up or something like that. Math’s a bit fuzzy this morning, but if their top dog Arc Pro A60 has 12 GB, doubling it sounds cool, right? Double the fun, double the power. Or something.
Now, as for surprises — can we call them surprises if we’re talking about them? — there might be a new GPU kid in town. I mean, they’re talking about 192-bit and 160-bit thingamajigs, but the BMG-G31 has been the whisper around the water cooler for ages. Imagine a Battlemage “Arc Pro” card with this high-end SKU. I mean, I don’t know what a 256-bit bus really does, but it sounds beefy with more Xe2 cores than you can shake a stick at.
And it’s like, sure, finally seeing the bigger Battlemage chip strut its stuff would be neat, but it’s also just, you know, kind of rad that Intel’s like, “Hey, we’re committed to this Arc line.” I’d expect more noise and buzz in the days ahead.
Anyway, wherever this leaves us, that’s a whole other conversation. Maybe I need coffee. Or a nap. Definite maybe.
