New PS5 Update Introduces Audio Focus and Revives Classic Console UI Customizations – PlayStation.Blog

We’re always striving to elevate the PS5 experience, and today we’re thrilled to unveil two significant new features inspired by your feedback: introducing audio focus and bringing back those beloved classic console design options for the PS5 UI.

April 24 marks the beginning of a worldwide rollout for this latest PS5 system update, deploying gradually across regions.

Let’s dive into the exciting new offerings:

Audio Focus

The audio focus feature is designed to enhance your gaming by letting you adjust sound settings to suit your listening preferences, particularly when using headphones. This not only enriches the audio experience but also broadens accessibility for players.

Enable audio focus, and you’ll find yourself choosing from a range of presets designed to make certain sounds—like character dialogue, environmental effects, and party chat—stand out more, immersing you deeper into the game.

• To activate audio focus, head to [Settings] > [Sound] > [Volume] > [Audio Focus]. You can also tweak these settings easily on-the-fly via the Control Center.

• Choose from four different preset options to fine-tune which sounds to highlight:

  • Boost Low Pitch: Enhance low-frequency sounds like engine roars and rumbles.
  • Boost Voices: Focus on voice chats, character speech, and mid-range sounds.
  • Boost High Pitch: Bring out high-frequency sounds like footsteps and metal clangs.
  • Boost Quiet Sounds: Elevate low-volume sounds across various frequencies.

• Each preset offers three adjustable support levels—Weak, Medium, Strong—and allows separate control for Left and Right channels.

• Keep in mind, this feature is available only with USB or analog jack headphones, excluding HDMI connections through TVs or other audio devices.

Classic Console Designs for PS5 UI Returns

In celebration of our 30th anniversary, we brought back cherished designs from PlayStation’s past, echoing the look of the PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4. Due to overwhelming demand, we’re delighted to reintroduce these nostalgic UI customizations, allowing you to personalize your PS5 home screen like never before.
