Sure thing, here it goes:
So, you know how it is with games, right? You wait forever, dreaming about that next big one. But sometimes, what you really want is just a trip down memory lane, like cruising through the ocean with Ecco the dolphin. Yeah, that one. The classic. Remember trying to get past those challenges? Ugh, it was tough. It’s like they designed it for dolphins with PhDs. I swear, Ecco: Defender of the Future had this trippy vibe that was part nightmare, part cozy blanket — which doesn’t even make sense but there it is. The music, the creepy creatures lurking about, that “I-have-no-idea-what-I’m-doing” learning curve. Pretty wild, huh?
Anyway, I think I kinda wanted to be a dolphin back then. Yep, one of life’s big disappointments — no flippers for me. Interestingly, Annunziata, the mastermind behind Ecco, dreamed of something similar. He once said it was like, you live life as a dolphin, because, I guess they’re sorta human-like? Besides whales, of course, but let’s not get technical.
He’s this guy who’s convinced gamers have massive IQs, and get this — love can change the world. I like that, it’s dreamy. His games aren’t just, y’know, games. They’re like love letters to the ocean. Made me want to save fish or something.
In one interview, Annunziata painted this picture of how humans and the sea could be best buddies over, like, generations. Sounded kinda poetic. Imagine people and the ocean getting along, understanding each other’s moods — like syncing up your Spotify playlist or something. We should totally embrace this connection. I think he’s right. Who wouldn’t want that?
Oh, and there’s talk of remastering Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: Tides of Time. Same team that brought us the originals, by the way. No dates yet, though. It’s one for the wishlist.
