I swear, sometimes I think Ice Code Games has a secret formula or something. So there I was, minding my own business, getting all nostalgic about cowboys and demons from Hard West 2 and totally didn’t see this coming. And bam! They dropped Nightmare Frontier on us. I mean, really? They’re sticking with that whole “monsters meet history” vibe. Like, what’s next? Zombies in ancient Rome? Actually, that might be sick.
Anyway — wait, what was I saying? Oh right, this new thing. Nightmare Frontier. You ever think XCOM had a weird fling with a creepy cowboy movie? Yeah, that’s what this feels like. And these characters? Desperate scavengers. Sounds like my teenage years. So you’re in this dusty old town, right, dodging these lovely creatures called Dreadweavers, which are about as friendly as they sound.
Imagine you’re out there, grabbing loot and thinking, “Do I stay and risk getting my face gnawed off or do I make a run for it?” The thrill! Or maybe I’m just a sucker for punishment. And when you’re not desperately fending off or running from whatever those things are, you’re tinkering with gear. Crafting, upgrading, all that jazz. I think there’s something deeply satisfying about that. Or just controlling chaos. Who knows?
Oh, this isn’t hitting shelves like right now or anything. We’re talking Early Access on Steam — summer, probably when you least expect it. Time’s ticking! They’ve got a wishlist thing going if you want to be all over it from day one.
And hey, while you’re in that pixelated horror mood waiting for Nightmare Frontier, there are some killer horror games (pun intended, I guess) and action-adventures already out. Good stuff to keep that heart pumping. Anyway, if you want bits and bobs on gaming news, I guess you can scope out Google News or something. And there’s this Discord server where you can lose yourself in random chats about, well, stuff. I dunno, it’s kind of like that weird local cafe where everyone knows your name — or at least pretends to.
